The exhibitions presented at the Scotland Street School Museum during Glasgow International and at la Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille in 2016. Published by Poursuite, it opens new perspectives through a series of commissioned texts by writers and curators Jenny Brownrigg, Timothée Chaillou, Anna Dezeuze, and Eric Mangion.
Raoul Reynolds: A Retrospective is not an exhibition catalogue, but rather a third episode of a project dedicated to trace the life and work of a highly idiosyncratic artist. Raoul Reynolds (1882-1969), whose life crossed the 20th century and many adventures, informed his art work with a personal interpretation of the avant-garde movements, thus pioneering a more creative approach to modernism which can be more likely found in today’s art practices.
During the launch event special attention will be given to the link between Raoul’s work and feminist perspectives with the participation of Helen de Main and Jenny Brownrigg.
